A local move is a move within the same state/province. The hourly rate includes a professional moving crew of two to three movers and an 18-26 foot van that encompasses all furniture blankets, dollies, and any special equipment needed to assist you with your move. When you go through the inventory checklist with a moving specialist, you decide on all the furniture to be moved, packing materials and boxes that are needed for moving to your new home, so you can guarantee that all needed materials will arrive with the van on the moving date.

The billing time begins when our moving crew arrives at your pickup destination and ends after the truck is empty and all furniture is reassembled. Each move is charged a minimum of two hours of labor and is charged half-hourly after the minimum is reached.

Travel time (flat rate fee), the amount of time it takes for our movers to reach your home and back is added to the total charge on completion of the move. Driving time, the time it takes for the movers to drive from your current residence to your new home, is not included in the travel time.

Always remember that moving time can be reduced if you prepare for the move carefully. Packing and disassembling any furniture such as beds, pool tables, and tables, can decrease the total time by hours, thus costing you less. Also, take note of the available access to your home; if you have a long walk way to your home, you can expect it to increase total time. Packing all belongings properly and using all packing supplies wisely will eliminate the possibility for the moving crew to make two trips to your new home.

Valuation of Coverage

All local relocations assigned to First Class Van Lines is covered by a free limited liability coverage. First Class Van Lines is only responsible for $0.60 per pound per article up to the maximum valuation option selected by a sales representative and the customer. We highly recommend that all customers purchase from a third party the Full Value Protection Insurance for the complete coverage of your belongings. Valuation of coverage is not insurance for your possessions.

List of Items

Be prepared with a ‘List of Items’ that records all furniture, appliances, and boxes along with the number of each item present. Our moving consultants will ask for the information on this list in order to provide you with the most accurate moving estimate. A helpful hint when creating a ‘List of Items’ is to overestimate the amount of boxes that the movers will need to move; any additional boxes will be charged extra, thus increasing the moving cost. Before beginning to pack all of your belongings or organizing which possessions the moving company will pack for you, please consider the following moving tips:

1. Stay away from used boxes. Sometimes the box will not be strong enough to hold your possessions securely. Boxes should have lids and be of uniform size
